LOS ANGELES, CA – November 30, 2023: ABC has revealed a significant shift in the scheduling for the upcoming 96th Oscars®, marking a historic change in its airtime. The highly anticipated event will be broadcast live nationwide on SUNDAY, MARCH 10, commencing at 7:00 p.m. EDT/4:00 p.m. PDT, marking the first instance of an earlier airing for the prestigious awards ceremony, signaling a departure from its traditional timing.
The revised schedule will encompass a 30-minute pre-show, launching at 6:30 p.m. EDT/3:30 p.m. PDT, preceding the main live broadcast. Following the culmination of the awards ceremony, viewers can anticipate an exclusive episode of the acclaimed Emmy® Award-winning comedy series “Abbott Elementary” on ABC. Moreover, the network plans to rebroadcast the telecast in the Pacific Time zone during primetime after the initial live presentation.
In continuation with earlier announcements, the live show will witness the return of the Emmy Award-winning late-night talk show host and producer, Jimmy Kimmel, as its host for the fourth consecutive time. Raj Kapoor is set to assume the roles of showrunner and executive producer, supported by executive producers Molly McNearney and Katy Mullan. Hamish Hamilton is confirmed as the director for the televised event.
