The first BAFTA Film Awards took place in 1949, and they have since grown to become one of the largest events on the global film calendar.

In 2024, the BBC One BAFTA Film Awards attracted an average of 3 million national viewers and peaked at 3.8 million viewers, both higher figures than anything achieved since 2020. Highlight clips from the ceremony were watched by 20.6m viewers across BAFTA’s social media platforms.
