LONDON, Jan 31 (ZIZ): Esteemed British singer-songwriter Sophie Ellis-Bextor has been confirmed to perform her iconic 2001 hit, “Murder on the Dancefloor,” at the forthcoming 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards, as announced by BAFTA today. The ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, 18 February 2024, at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall and will be hosted by David Tennant. The event will be aired on BBC One, iPlayer, and BritBox International.

The resurgence of the pop dancefloor classic is attributed to its feature in the British film “Saltburn,” directed, written, and produced by Emerald Fennell. The song’s renewed popularity became a notable moment in cinema this year, evolving into a viral sensation and re-entering international music charts 22 years after its initial release. “Murder on the Dancefloor” has witnessed a surge in streaming by both existing and new fans. It has become a trending audio on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, achieving milestones on Spotify, YouTube, and TikTok globally. The song’s success extended to the United States, where it made its debut on the Billboard Top 100.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor will deliver a live performance during the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards, promising an engaging evening of entertainment for viewers.
