Los Angeles, CA – September 15, 2023: The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has unveiled the triumphant victors of the 50th Student Academy Awards® competition, marking a significant milestone for the international student film community. A total of 14 talented students from across the globe have been recognized for their exceptional contributions to the cinematic world.

This year, the competition witnessed a staggering 2,443 submissions from 720 esteemed colleges and universities worldwide. The 2023 recipients now join an illustrious lineage of past Student Academy Award® luminaries such as Patricia Cardoso, Pete Docter, Spike Lee, Patricia Riggen, and Robert Zemeckis.

This year, École des Nouvelles Images (France) receives first-time honors.

Each of the Student Academy Award-winning films is now eligible to contend in the 2023 Oscars® in categories including Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, or Documentary Short Film. Notably, previous winners have garnered an impressive 67 Oscar® nominations and have secured 12 awards.

A grand in-person award ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. The event will take place at the prestigious Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, where the coveted gold, silver, and bronze medal placements in the four award categories will be announced.

The 50th Student Academy Awards ceremony on October 24 welcomes the public, but advance ticket reservations are mandatory. Interested individuals can secure tickets online at oscars.org. The Samuel Goldwyn Theater is conveniently located at 8949 Wilshire Boulevard.
