One of the distinguishing features of IFFR’s organizational structure is its dual leadership model, which divides responsibilities between the Managing Director and the Festival Director. This partnership ensures a holistic approach to overseeing the commercial and creative aspects of the festival. Prior to joining DocFest, Stewart had already established a professional connection with IFFR, providing consultancy services to the Board of Directors in 2021. Her involvement during the initial phase of evaluation, specifically focusing on the festival’s program structure and content strategy, reflects her deep understanding of IFFR’s goals and vision.

The year 2023 witnessed another triumphant chapter in IFFR’s history, as it recorded an impressive 283,506 visits, including 8,871 online visits. Additionally, the festival attracted the participation of over 2,500 film professionals, solidifying IFFR’s reputation as one of the world’s largest and most influential audience and industry-driven film festivals.

Noteworthy for its diverse and extensive film selection, IFFR consistently curates a lineup of more than 400 feature films, mid-length films, and short films from over 90 countries. This inclusive approach celebrates the richness and variety of global cinema, fostering cultural exchange and an appreciation for films from different corners of the world.

These complementary events provide valuable platforms for interaction, learning, and artistic exploration, enhancing the overall cultural impact of the festival.

Film enthusiasts and industry professionals eagerly anticipate the upcoming 53rd edition of IFFR, scheduled to take place from January 25th to February 4th, 2024. With a commitment to pushing boundaries and celebrating the art of cinema, IFFR promises yet another remarkable showcase of exceptional films and engaging cultural experiences. Under the new leadership of Clare Stewart, IFFR is poised to continue its legacy as a leading platform for global cinema and an unmissable event on the international film festival circuit.
